At Prof Sauerbier’s private practice for hand and plastic surgery in Bad Homburg von der Höhe in the Rhein-Main region of Germany, you will find the necessary medical expertise and personal empathy and care for your medical issue. With almost 30 years’ experience in hand and plastic surgery, Prof. Sauerbier’s main focus is on scientific progress, medical and ethical medicine and the patient as a human being. Regardless of restrictive hospital structures, the highest level of expertise in hand and plastic surgery and all related sub-specialities is offered for the treatment of complex clinical pictures and is always accompanied by a patient-focused approach. Physical function and form are fundamental pillars for healing, improvement, and preservation of physical well-being. The practise represents the full spectrum of hand and plastic-reconstructive surgery.
Prof. Sauerbier is active at many sites throughout the Rhein-main region. Alongside his function at his private practice for hand and plastic surgery in Bad Homburg von der Höhe, he is also active and an affiliated physician for hand and plastic surgery at the Hochtaunus Clinics in Bad Homburg von der Höhe and Usingen and the ETHIANUM private clinic in Heidelberg. Since completing medical training, he has devoted his attention exclusively to the specialist fields of hand and plastic-reconstructive surgery. Starting from 2013 he is continously ranked as top level specialist in Hand Surgery as well as in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Ärzteliste Focus Gesundheit and since 2022 in Stern Ärzteliste.
For patients with comprehensive private medical insurance plans (including for outpatient treatments), consultation at the private practice and any operative treatment are invoiced directly to the patient. Patients with statutory health insurance plans can be treated on a self-funding basis. Patients from other countries without German health insurance plans can undergo consultation, and if necessary, surgical procedures, as private self-funding patients. We ensure that our invoicing practices are fully transparent.

Second Opinion Consultations
With a serious illness or the consequences of an injury that affects quality of life, there is often a great deal of uncertainty, regardless of whether you yourself or a relative is affected. A fundamental question in these cases is whether and, if so, where, you should undergo treatment. It is essential to find a specialist with a great deal of expertise and, if necessary, an experienced surgeon to ensure that the best possible treatment results are achieved.
A second opinion can help you make the correct decision. With his many years in the field of hand surgery and plastic reconstructive surgery, Prof. Sauerbier possesses the necessary experience, empathy, and measured thinking to be able to professionally discuss appropriate therapeutic options with patients.
An appointment for a second opinion consultation can easily be arranged in advance. For patients with private health insurance for outpatient treatment, the services are invoiced directly to the health insurance provider. Patients with statutory health coverage can arrange a consultation on a self-funding basis.

Expert Medical Assessment
Expert medical assessments can be used to determine whether the prerequisites for financial compensation are met following injury, illness, or an operation. In his private practice, Prof. Sauerbier personally carries out assessments for private insurance companies, public courts, lawyers, and patients (on a self-funding basis) in the fields of hand and plastic reconstructive surgery. The assessment fee is agreed in advanced.
The aim of the expert assessment is to determine whether the health-related issue of the insured person or patient in each case is a direct result of the accident, illness, or previous medical treatment.
During the assessment, the health condition of the insured person is determined by using the highest standards of medical expertise and from a wholly neutral perspective. All related issues are then presented in laymen-friendly terms. Medical and specialist assessments are prerequisites for insurance companies and courts to make an informed decision on whether to award compensation for the consequences of accidents, illness, or medical treatment.
