Treatment Spectrum

In the private medical practice of PROFESSOR SAUERBIER offers the complete spectrum of special hand surgery as well as plastic-reconstructive surgery. In addition, medical-scientific issues are discussed in the context of assessments. In the area of diseases and the consequences of injuries to the hand and forearm, great importance is attached to an extremely careful patient-centered examination. In particular, Prof. Sauerbier is a nationally and internationally recognized specialist in the following clinical areas:

  • Nerve compression syndromes in the hand, elbow and ankle (carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome, tarsal tunnel syndrome)
  • Narrowing of the tendon sheaths (e.g.,  triggering  finger or thumb)
  • Sports injuries of the hand
  • Injuries to the carpal bones and their long-term effects (e.g. scaphoid fractures and nonunions) as well as the radius and the distal radioulan joint
  • Ligament injuries to the wrist and finger joints or the thumb (skier thumb)
  • Arthroscopic operations, discus surgery
  • Operations for degenerative and accident-related wear and tear caused by osteoarthritis (e.g. thumb basal joint osteoarthritis)
  • Dupuytren’s contracture (open surgery, percutaneous aponeurotomy, collagenase injection)
  • Neoplasms / tumors of bones and soft tissue and hand / forearm (transverse legs or ganglia, soft tissue sarcomas)

  • Replacement of injured tendons and paralyzed muscles through tendon repositioning operations or free muscle transplants
  • Congenital child malformations of the hand
  • Outpatient surgery both under local anesthesia (“wide-awake method” without tourniquet) and under conduction anesthesia and general anesthesia
  • Hand-surgical check-up examination with sonography, hand vascular examination, if necessary MRI
  • Hand rehabilitation together with certified hand therapists

In plastic reconstructive surgery, the treatment focus is on restoration in the area of functional and aesthetic reconstruction in the area of the entire body. The following treatments are carried out:

  • Functional restoration of the extremities (soft tissue defects, nerve injuries)
  • Recovery after benign or malignant tumor diseases (soft tissue sarcomas, facial tumors, breast cancer, chest wall)
  • Scar contractures, e.g. after burns
